Welimada Estate
A Legacy of Excellence Since 1914
Nestled in the misty hills of Sri Lanka’s renowned Uva Province, Welimada Estate is a proud symbol of heritage, sustainability, and premium quality tea production. Established in 1914 by Mr. F. R. Bisset, the estate has flourished for over a century, producing some of the finest orthodox leafy teas in the region.

Originally managed by The Welimada Tea Company of Ceylon Limited and later by the Anglo-American Direct Tea Trading Company Limited, the estate became a part of Sri Lanka’s nationalized plantation sector in 1975. Under the care of the Janatha Estates Development Board for nearly two decades, Welimada Estate transitioned into the private sector in 1992, joining the prestigious portfolio of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC.
