Cotton, Warwick Estate stands as the highest elevation plantation within the Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC, located in Sri Lanka’s Badulla District, within the heart of Uva Province. The estate’s unique location between the renowned Hakgala Forest and Horton Plains provides it with a pristine environment for growing tea at exceptional altitudes.
A Historic Legacy of Excellence
Planted at elevations ranging from 1768 to 1829 meters above sea level, Warwick Estate enjoys the distinctive microclimate of the Uva Highlands, ideal for cultivating high-quality tea. With a cultivated area of 358.20 hectares, the estate produces tea that is renowned for its unmatched seasonal flavors.
The Flavor Profile of Warwick Estate
Warwick Estate’s tea is cultivated from a blend of old seedling tea plants of Chinese and Assam origin, as well as vegetatively propagated clones. These varieties contribute to the distinctive flavor profile that has made the estate famous. Teas from Warwick are exclusively manufactured and sold under the Uva Highlands and Aislaby marks, known for their bold, aromatic characteristics.

Warwick Estate is proud to be Rainforest Alliance Certified, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable farming practices, biodiversity conservation, and social responsibility. This certification further assures the estate’s dedication to producing premium-quality tea while maintaining environmental and ethical standards.
A Legacy of Stewardship
After its nationalization in 1975, Warwick Estate was managed by the Janatha Estates Development Board until 1992. Following the privatization of Sri Lankan tea estates, the estate has been under the expert management of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC.
