Moralioya Estate
Moralioya Estate is located within the Sabaragamuwa Province of the Kegalle District of Sri Lanka.
This estate benefits from a tropical climate characterized by an annual rainfall of 8930.19mm. It is Situated at an elevation of 213 meters above sea level. Classifying it as a part of the low country elevation category., which influences both the type of crops such as Rubber and Tea grown and their yield potential.
While precise planting records are unavailable , it is estimated that it was established around 1890.
Initially focusing on Rubber cultivation , today Moralioya encompasses approximately 534.93 hectares of mature Rubber that are diligently maintained , producing an average yield of 610 kilograms per hectare and resulting in an annual rubber harvest of about 30,573 kilograms . Following the privatization in 1991, this estate has been managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC, ensuring that Operations adhere to contemporary agricultural practices.
Moralioya Estate employs a total of 249 individuals. The estate has diversified its agricultural output beyond rubber .Notably , it cultivates the “ Malwana Rambutan”, a fruit variety that is planted over 38.68 hectares and sellswell in the local market. In addition Moralioya has 10.93 hectares of Coconut cultivation, yielding around 20,000 to30,000 nuts annually. Cinnamon cultivation is one of the distinguishing features of Moralioya Estate with 169.64hectares allocated for this crop which produces around 7,800kilograms annually.
Moralioya boasts a modern Cinnamon Factory designed to produce cinnamon products. This factory is well equipped to meet production demands.
