Queenstown Estate
Tradition Rooted in Excellence Since 1915
Located in the lush highlands of Sri Lanka’s Uva Province, within the Badulla District, Queenstown Estate stands as a testament to over a century of tea-growing heritage and innovation. Planted in 1915 by Mr. W. S. Taylor, the estate has grown into one of the region’s most respected producers of high-quality tea.
Heritage and Development
Queenstown Estate was initially developed under the guidance of Mr. W. S. Taylor and the Heirs of J. T. Sikes, who managed the estate until 1921. In that year, the property became part of the prestigious Sikes Tea and Rubber Estates, marking the beginning of its journey as a major player in Sri Lanka’s tea industry.
Following the nationalization of estates in 1975, Queenstown was managed by the Janatha Estates Development Board until its privatization in 1992, after which it came under the stewardship of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC.

Spanning a unique geography from Hali Ela to Badulla along the main road and extending to Ketawala town via the Galauda road, the estate benefits from a diverse and fertile landscape. Today, Queenstown Estate comprises several productive divisions:
